Things That Give Me Serotonin: May Edition

IMG_9437.jpeg

Y’all already know the drill, with a new month, comes a recap of everything I’ve been obsessed with from the previous month. This month was pretty content-heavy but I still have a few clean beauty favs to share as well!! Read along for all my favorites from the month of May!!

Those Who Wish Me DeadI told you it was content-heavy this month! But anyways, if you’re looking for a stressful, shit-your-pants-the-entire-movie, experience, THIS IS THE MOVIE FOR YOU!!! It is about a smoke jumper with a troubled past who is assigned to tower duty in order to destress and unwind from the taxing nature of her job. While on watch, she comes across a young boy who is running from hired assassins who are on a mission to hunt him down and kill him. Victoria Beckham Matte Bronzing BrickI have only tried two or three powder bronzers and honestly never found one I have liked. I am a cream product kind of gal, through and through. That is until I tried this powder bronzer. It is amazing. It comes in a stunning refillable compact, and the product itself is beautiful. It is super buttery and easy to blend. I have found that other powder products accentuate my dry skin, but this one somehow doesn’t at all. I have it in the shade 02 and will 100% be repurchasing the refill once I run out!

Victoria Beckham Matte Bronzing Brick

I have only tried two or three powder bronzers and honestly never found one I have liked. I am a cream product kind of gal, through and through. That is until I tried this powder bronzer. It is amazing. It comes in a stunning refillable compact, and the product itself is beautiful. It is super buttery and easy to blend. The Last Thing He Told Me

Happy to report that I am back on my reading grind! I went about two months without reading a single book which is pretty odd for me. I loved this book. It was fast-paced and had me glued to the pages. It wasn’t super twisty, but it was unexpected, if that makes sense. It tells the story of an artist who upends her life to move across the country in order to live with her new husband and his young daughter in their boat home. All is well until her husband disappears leaving only a note and a mysterious package for his wife and daughter.

HiBar Shampoo and Conditioner

I have been ON THE HUNT for an affordable clean haircare line that I could recommend to you guys and I have found it!! HiBar is a unique hair washing experience. Instead of your traditional bottle of shampoo and conditioner, HiBar is a bar of concentrated product. You simply hold the fat end in your hand, and rub the angled side into your scalp and ends. I was shocked by how well it lathered up and distributed product. It leaves my hair feeling clean but not at all stripped or dry. The scent is clean and herbal and the best part is that there is zero waste or single-use plastic. It is truly the most sustainable hair product I have come across. I have already purchased a backup, I love it that much!

Crown Affair Dry Shampoo

On the topic of hair, I have found the best dry shampoo on the market. I truly love everything about it. The packaging, the application, the scent, and finish, it’s all perfection. Instead of the usual aerosol can filled with product, this comes in a powder form that you apply with a brush. I love the brush applicator because it allows me to get right into my hairline around my face (where I get the most oily) without blasting my face with dry shampoo. It leaves my hair feeling clean and touchable and not stiff and crispy like other dry shampoos can tend to do!

Loops Face Masks

I have been eyeing this brand for some time now and finally gave the variety pack a try just for shits and gigs and ended up loving it! I’m glad I tried the variety pack because I now know which to repurchase and which to pass on. My favorites are the Sunrise Service and Clean Slate! They’re super concentrated with active skincare ingredients so you’ll see results pretty immediately. They’re great to use before an event or special occasion or if you just want an instant pick me up!

It’s A Sin

This is one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. I can’t stop thinking about it. It follows a group of LGBT+ friends in London in the early 80’s just when the AIDS epidemic was making it’s way to Europe. I laughed, I cried, it was heart warming and heartbreaking. It’s 100% worth watching, especially during pride month.
