BLEMISH FIGHTING HEROES

One of the most asked questions from my friends, readers and followers is how I keep my skin clear. Don’t get me wrong, when I break out, I break HARD. I get those horrible underground pimples that never really come to the surface and leave a red mark for weeks. Back in college, between stress, lack of sleep and some migraine medication, my skin was riddled with pimples especially on my chin and around my mouth. Luckily I have since been able to go off of the daily migraine meds (I now address as needed) and have figured out what kinds of products really agree with my skin type and my needs. I try my best to use clean skincare formulas with non-comedogenic ingredients. I check the ingredients when shopping using the Acne Clinic NYC database. You would be shocked how many products (even ones targeted towards breakout prone skin) contain pore clogging ingredients.

Pimples are inevitable. Between diet, stress, hormones, and our skin just being a lil bitch, we are all bound to break out here and there. Keep reading for the products that save the day when my skin is acting a damn fool.

Loops Clean Slate Mask

I am a huge fan of the Loops masks. They deliver results fast and feel like an instant facial. The Clean Slate mask is one of my favorites of the bunch because it makes my skin feel squeaky clean without dehydrating it. It contains volcanic ash which draws out the impurities under the skins surface while soothing the skin with aloe vera. Use code ‘HOMEBODYJANE15’ for $$ off!

Starface XL Stickers

I have tried every single pimple patch on the market and these are by far my favorite. I found that while other stickers did draw out the crap in my pimple, they also left behind a dry red patch for days even after the pimple was eradicated. These stickers from Starface are effective while still gentle on my sensitive skin.

Tata Harper Clarifying Mask

I have been using this mask for years. My skin absolutely loves it. This mask detoxes my skin without stripping it. Bonus points for the funky color ;). If you are looking into trying out Tata Harpers products, I always suggest starting with her masks, you can’t go wrong!

LightStim Acne Wand

Tell me you have a high maintenance skincare routine without telling me you have a high maintenance skincare routine….. I swear by this thing. I use it on my chin every single night (that is where I breakout the most) and I now RARELY get those painful pimples and when I do, they go away crazy fast.

Biba Los Angles Zinc and Sulfur Mask

This is what I reach for now when I need my skin to get its shit together ASAP. It is no joke. It isn’t the most hydrating formula so be sure to follow with with lots of hydrating products. This is also amazing as a spot treatment!

Biba Los Angeles Blemish Control Gel

Sometimes I just don’t feel like hitting the mean streets of Annapolis with star stickers all over my face. On days when I need some blemish control action without it being visible on the skin, I reach for this gel from Biba Los Angeles.
