How To Cultivate A Cozy Vibe: Bedroom Edition

I am a homebody through and through. I am happiest when I am home, I feel the most comfortable and safe at home; I am my best self when I am home. And within my home, my bedroom is my oasis. It is my freakin spot. I love it in there, man. I get questions all the time about my bedding and other bedroom must-haves so I thought I’d share with you guys how I have reached peak coziness within my bedroom and how you can too!

THE BED:

Fun fact about me, is that I am hot 100% of the time. And sleeping is no exception. So when it comes to bedding, it needs to be lightweight and cool. So linen it is. I love linen in a bedroom. It creates the natural, lived-in look that I love. It’s textured but not busy, and feels great on the skin. NOBODY does linen like Parachute. It’s pricey but you are paying for quality products that are easy to care for and are thoughtfully and ethically produced. I have the Linen Quilt in Bone and it is perfection. The color is perfect for pet owners who want a light colored neutral bedding look. I also have the Linen Pillowcase set in Terra.

While I wish I could have a full Parachute bedroom set up, I am not rich rich (yet). So for actual sheets, I have a bit of a parachute dupe… don’t sleep on (but like actually do sleep on these) the Hearth and Hand by Magnolia bedding at Target!! I have the linen cotton blend sheets in the Sour Cream shade and they’re great. They’re super soft, wash well, and have the linen texture I love! They’re obviously not as soft and luxurious as the Parachute sheets but for $60 I’ll live.

I recently found out about SoftFrame on Instagram and fell in love. They’re a small west coast company that specializes in soft-sided, upholstered bedroom goods. They’re responsibly made with non-toxic materials and have a ton of fabric options. I got a notice when my frame shipped that they offset the carbon emissions from the delivery/shipping process so you can feel good while getting a good nights sleep. I have the Classic in the color Moon.

THE SCENTS:

I am a scent snob. Scents can make or break my mood. Too strong and florally I find yucky and off-putting. But minty, herbal, or warm scents can have me spiraling into tranquil bliss. First things first, you’re going to need all the candles ever. Check back next week for a run down on all my favorite candles for the warmer months!

An essential oil diffuser is a must for me. Mine is from Vitruvi and she’s a beaut. It’s tricky to find oil diffusers that do not contain BPA in the plastic (I don’t need to be inhaling that ish) but Vitruvi is a company that creates their products consciously. My favorite scents are sandalwood, peppermint, bergamot, lemon, eucalyptus, and sage. I love to create custom blends depending on my mood. Let me know on Instagram at @homebodyjane if you’d like a post with some of my go-to DIY essential oil blends!

Recently, I’ve been really into incense! I’ve always found them to be too strong and smokey but I have found two scents from Whole Foods that I can not stop using. First is the Maroma Lavender Rosemary incense. It smells exactly how it sounds, like lavender and rosemary but mixed with a little bit of campfire (in the best way). Next is my FAVORITE, the Trilonka Vanilla Spice incense. It is warm and musky, and spicy, and not at all overpowering. Just gives off the most comforting, relaxing scent EVER.

We are all spending a lot more time at home so it’s more important than ever to make your space peaceful and cozy! If you try any of my cozy bedroom must-haves let me know!
