Lip Service: My Must-Have Lip Products

I asked you guys on Instagram what product recommendations you are looking for from me and lots of you wanted all things lips! My lips are one of my favorite facial features so I like to show them some TLC. I love balmy, glossy, juicy lip products. I never messed with the whole matte lip trend. But I am also VERY picky when it comes to lip products. I have super sensitive/reactive skin and my lips are no exception. More often than not, lip products irritate my lips causing them to swell like a balloon and the edges to full on split (pretty, I know). I’ve tried doing the detective work to see what common ingredient does not agree with me and can’t seem to narrow it down. So when I find a lip product that not only looks great but also feels nice AND doesn’t completely tear my lips up, it’s a huge win for me!

Also, I am very particular about what brands I trust and the ingredients in lip products because more than any other beauty product, you are literally ingesting what you put on your lips whether you mean to or not. So using a lip balm containing freaking LEAD is a no from me, dawg. I often see people complain that “lip balm just makes their lips feel dryer” and that is because lots of brands sneak alcohol and other drying agents into the formulation. So your initial feeling upon application is nice and hydrated but soon after you’re needing to reapply, thus you buy more of their products because you run out sooner. Not on my watch people. Here are my must-have clean lip products that I can’t recommend enough!

The Balms:

Biba Lip Treatment: Every thing this woman puts out is perfection for me. And this lip treatment is no exception. It is thick and glossy and perfect for putting on before bed so that it really goes to work while you’re sleeping. It smells like pomegranate too!

Goop Beauty Lip Balm: I ran out of this one this week and I am sad because now it’s sold out and I need it back in my life. It’s so good. It has a really unique texture on the lips. Gwyneth Paltrow, who owns Goop, said that the formula for this took over 3 years to perfect and they reworked the finish due to our recent need for face coverings. So basically it is way less sticky than most lip balms and very mask-friendly.

Beneath Your Mask Lip Remedy: I LOVE THIS STUFF. It smells like blood orange lemonade and is just an overall amazing product. I will say, the texture when applying is a little different. It has an almost gritty texture when you first squeeze it out, but once it comes in contact with the natural heat of your lips it blends out into a luxurious lip treatment. It’s incredible.

Kosas Sport CBD Lip Balm: This is just a classic lip balm but with the added benefits of CBD. It smells amazing, feels amazing, but I do wish the packaging was a little different. It looks super cool but the long skinny applicator is tricky for me.

Saie Liquid Lip Balm: Honorable mention for this one. She’s a recent find so she was late to the photoshoot. But this stuff is goooooooood. It reminds me of the Goop lip balm once its on the lips. It is super hydrating and long lasting but not at all glossy or sticky. It comes out a nude-ish pink color but applies to the lips clear.

The Lip Colors: *all products are darker on camera than IRL. I’m trying here people*

RMS Lip Liner in Daytime Nude: I don’t wear lip liner often at all so this is the only one I own/have tried so take this review with a grain of salt. But I like this a lot! The color is very natural. It’s creamy and blends into the lips really well!

Merit Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil: You know it’s good when you’re having to hold yourself back from getting more shades. This is like a mixture of a gloss, balm, stain, and lipstick. It’s wild. It’s infused with rosehip oil and shea butter so it leav…

When I first swatched it I was alarmed… I didn’t want to look like I had melted chocolate on my lips. That’s not the vibe I’m going for here (the photo is a heavy swatch). I only apply a little bit, but you can build it up if you want it darker. A light layer creates a nice nude color for me!

Saie Really Great Gloss in Fresh: I concur. This is a really great gloss. Shiny, not sticky, no shimmer, great color, no offensive smell. Just overall really great!

Victoria Beckham Beauty Bitten Lip Tint in Bisou: She’s a pricy one. But I had been eyeing her for a while so when I had a gift card at my disposal, I decided to treat myself and test it out. I would 100% pay full price for this. It’s a really pretty nude berry shade and I use it almost daily. It is by far the most unique lip product I have ever used. It’s a stain so it can either be applied lightly or built up. It goes on watery but dries beautifully. It layers on top of my lip balms well and is overall my GO-TO lip product.

If you guys try any of these lippies, let me know on Instagram at @homebodyjane!!
