Merit Beauty Review

I haven’t been more excited about a new beauty brand literally ever. Like I went and ordered practically the whole line like a psycho, that’s how excited I was about the launch of Merit. If you’ve been reading along the last few weeks, you would have heard me RAVE about Biba skincare. Her products have become a staple in my everyday skincare routine. Her knowledge of ingredients in unmatched and anything she is attached to, count me in. So when I heard that Biba collaborated with formulating the new clean beauty brand, Merit, I was already mentally filling up my shopping cart!

Merit promises customers “responsible luxury” and “well-edited essentials that have earned a place on your vanity”. They have vowed to take a holistic approach to “clean” by creating products that are safe for your body, skin and planet. Their products are EU compliant so they have removed 1,328 harmful ingredients from their formulas that are often found in mainstream beauty lines. And by partnering with skincare maven, Biba de Sousa, they have eliminated an additional 73 ingredients that are known to be acne and irritation triggering. So, what did I buy??

The Minimalist Complexion Stick

I have never tried a stick foundation, in fact I’ve never tried a foundation for that matter. I am always drawn to tinted moisturizers, but when I saw that this product is marketed as lightweight and packed with skin-loving ingredients, I wanted to branch out and give it a try, and I am so glad I did. It is literally a tinted moisturizer in stick form. I have it here in the shades Sand and Amber. Sand for all over the face, and Amber for my temples and cheekbones for added warmth. I also snagged the blending brush for the full Merit experience. They’re lightweight and sheer so the shades are very flexible and blend like a freakin dream.

Flush Balm

This may be my favorite cream blush I’ve ever tried. I rubbed it into the palm of my hand and then tapped my finger tips into the warmed up product to apply straight to my cheeks. It has a serum like texture that I’ve never felt in a cream blush before. It is very sheer and build-able which I always prefer in my cheek products. I couldn’t decide between the shades Mood and Terracotta sooo I did both…. AND I’D DO IT AGAIN!

Day Glow

Less is more unless we’re talking about glow. More glow is more glow. When I first swatched this on my hand, I was a little put off my how silver it looked, but once on the face, it looks wet and dewy and not at all silver or glittery (YAY). The texture is once again very serum like and wet once warmed up and I love that. The shade I have here is Cava and I will say, I probably wouldn’t repurchase this particular shade, but I’m having to hold myself back from trying the more warm/gold shade.

Clean Lash

This is the prettiest mascara packaging I have ever seen, and the mascara doesn’t suck either. In fact, I kinda love it. At first I didn’t think it was anything special, but the more I catch myself in the mirror, I am shocked by how dark my lashes look. I have pretty unremarkable lashes so I’ve kind of given up on trying to make them look good but damn my lashes look good when I have this on!! The don’t look long, but they look full and dark. I’ll take it.

Shade Slick I am a lip balm junkie. I have some kind of hydrating balmy type thing on my at all times because chapped lips and I don’t vibe. So when I’m looking for a lip color product, it has to be juicy. This is juicy. My lips look wet and full an…

Shade Slick

I am a lip balm junkie. I have some kind of hydrating balmy type thing on my at all times because chapped lips and I don’t vibe. So when I’m looking for a lip color product, it has to be juicy. This is juicy. My lips look wet and full and feel hydrated and comfortable. I have the shade Au Naturel and it’s the perfect “my-lips-but-better” shade for my complexion.
