“Trust Your Own Damn Nose”
Everyone has that one compliment that lights up their mood when they receive it, no matter what. Whether it be “you have the best smile” or “you’re so well-spoken” everyone has their thing that they know they’ve got going for them, and love when others notice. For me, it’s smell. I take scents VERY seriously; everything from candles, to food, to my living space has to smell warm and inviting. And when it comes to my personal scent, I don’t mess around. I’ll never forget, I was a transfer student at my new college and I was attending my first party with my new friends, and a guy came up to me and said I smelled “like magic”. He wasn’t trying to hit on me (at least I don’t think he was), he just genuinely felt moved to tell me how bangin’ I smelled.
I had been using the same perfume for about 4 years and decided I wanted to switch things up. I found Snif on Instagram and was immediately drawn to the branding and packaging. After further investigation, I realized it is not your typical perfume company. It is a “try before you buy” situation but here is the catch: you don’t know what the scents are at all. They want you to “trust your own damn nose”. They market themselves as genderless scents with non-toxic ingredients that are never tested on animals, which sounded right up my alley. They send all three scents along with testers that you can spray and play with with for a week, then you simply keep which scents work for you, send back what didn’t and only pay for what you keep. So, what did I think of the scents?
Way With Woods: I am naturally drawn to woodsy, unisex, warm, and slightly herbal scents. So I kind of had a feeling I’d be into this one based off of the name alone. It’s warm and comforting and perfect for me. I love to wear it alone or with…
Salty Stares: This is a situation where I am really glad I didn’t know about the note profiles going into my sniffing experience. I have been sworn to secrecy about sharing too much about the notes they contain, but just between us, this has freakin bell pepper in it… If I saw that in the description online I’d be like “ew, I don’t want to smell like a salad”. But lo and behold, I do. It smells like clean laundry air drying on a mountain top.
Ex On The Beach: I ended up sending this one back. It was fruity and beachy and fun and I liked it a lot, it just wasn’t for me!
I am extremely impressed with my shopping experience with Snif and will 100% be trying out any new scents they release. They have the quality of a boujee perfume without the $250 price tag. 10/10 would reccomend!
