I Tried The Entire MUTHA Skincare Routine And Here Is How It Went…

A few months ago, the stars aligned and I ran out of all of my entire skincare routine within the same few days. I figured it was as good a time as any to try an entire new line and a whole new routine! Mutha kindly sent me a few of their skincare products so I went ahead and purchased the rest of the routine with my own money. I had high hopes because I have absolutely LOVED their body products that I have tried out. Keep reading for my thoughts on the Mutha skincare line and whether or not it is #homebodyapproved.

Cell Rejuvenating Essence

I was really intrigued by the ingredients in this essence. It contains black tea, fermented probiotics, and hyaluronic acid to plump and hydrate the skin. It promises to help your products seep into the skin deeper and perform more effectively. It has a mild but pleasant scent and has a nice slippery texture. I did notice a difference in the softness of my skin and I would even say it is worth the hefty price tag given the large amount of product you get!

No. 1 Serum

Once again, I was really drawn to the ingredients in this serum! It claims to be a '“do-it-all-serum” with ingredients like Vitamin C, Rice Peptides and Hyaluronic Acid. I liked the texture and it left me with an instant glow (which I always love), however the dropper didn’t suck up any product so I found that I needed to dump out the product in my hand which caused me to waste quite a bit of product. Also it has a strong clove scent, which was odd because it doesn’t seem to contain any type of clove oil.

Up All Night Eye Cream

This actually reminded me a lot of my beloved Tata Harper Illuminating Eye Cream. They both have a glowy and illuminating finish while hydrating and de-puffing the under eye area. The Tata Harper has a more goldy-champagney tint and the Mutha one leans more peachy. I personally prefer the Tata Harper one on my skin tone but if you have a deeper skin tone, and the Tata Harper eye cream is too light for you, try this one out!!

The Cream

I have been trying to amp up my hydration products even further the older I am getting so I wanted to give a rich cream a go. This was thick and deeply hydrating but I have come to find that I just prefer facial oils over creams and lotions! If you are more of a dreamy creamy guy or gal, try this out! As facial creams go, it is LUXE.

Face Oil

If you read my last post, you would know I am a facial oil lover! So I was PUMPED to try this face oil. I have heard amazing things and it is probably the product I was most looking forward to incorporating into my routine. So you will probably find it odd when I tell you I didn’t ever put it on my face…. When I opened the bottle it made a funky popping noise and with all due respect, it smelled like burnt hair. I reached out to the kind team at Mutha and told them about the issue and they quickly sent me a replacement. Sadly the replacement had the exact same issue. They did both happen to have the same batch number so it is very likely I just got unlucky with two bad oils from the same batch.

Sadly, the Mutha skincare line did not work for me and my skins needs, but I know people who absolutley RAVE about it. I will be repurchasing their body products however!

This is my last post before the new year, so I hope you all have a very happy holiday with family and loved ones. Please stay safe and I will talk to you all in a few weeks when I post the start of my yearly favorites!
