Things That Give Me Serotonin: October Edition

Spooky Season has officially come to an end and if you’re anything like me, today marks the official start of HOLIDAY SZN!!!! (I THRIVE during this time of year so stay tuned for lots of holiday-centric content.) But before we kick off the most wonderful time of the year, I need to share my favorite finds from the past month!

Victoria Beckham Beauty Cheeky Blush in Playground

Between Zoom meetings and social get-togethers, I have worn more makeup this past month than I have in like 6 months, and I have ONLY been reaching for this new blush from VBB. I picked up the shade ‘Playground’ and it is the prefect bronzer/blush hybrid kind of shade. Upon first swatch, I found it dryer than my usual favorite cream blush formula, (aka the Merit Flush Balm) but it blends super seamlessly and leaves a natural flush to the cheeks.

Apples Never Fall by Laine Moriarty

If you’re a fan of Moriarty’s other works like Big Little Lies or Truly Madly Guilty, you’ll love this as well. It follows the Delanys, a tight-knit yet dysfunctional tennis family. When Joy, the mom, suddenly goes missing after an intense argument with Stan, her husband, all suspicions fall on Stan. The kids end up divided as to how to handle supporting their father during the investigation, and needless to say, shit hits the fan.

Le Labo Hinoki Hand Pomade

I went a little Le Labo crazy this past month and I am not mad about it. I picked up this hand cream to keep on my bed side table but now I kind of bring it everywhere with me. It deeply moisturizes my hands without leaving them greasy and oily plus, IT SMELLS SO FREAKING GOOD I CAN’T EVEN HANDLE IT.

Le Labo Matcha 26

This perfume in conjunction with the hand cream has me smelling RIGHT. I had no business picking this perfume up after recently buying my Aesop Karst scent but I couldn’t help myself. THIS IS AMAZING. It’s fresh and citrusy but also earthy and woody.

Tower 28 Sunny Days

This is hands down my favorite face sunscreen I have ever tried. It is pretty much impossible to find sunscreens that are completely non-comedogenic and gentle for sensitive skin, but Tower 28 DID THATTTTTT. It is lightweight, reef-safe, easy to rub in, comes in a ton of flexible shades (I use the shade Mulholland) and doesn’t pill up like lots of other sunscreens can tend to do.

Make Beauty Pre-Cleanse Fluid

I like to double cleanse on makeup days but balm cleansers always leave my eyes foggy and irritated. I decided to try this on a whim and I am really glad I did! The texture is somewhere between an oil and a liquid and it totally breaks down makeup and sunscreen like a cleansing balm would but without the eye irritation.

Esker Body Plane

I have seen this funky tool popping up at all of my favorite stores and finally decided to give it a try. It is kinda yucky but totally satisfying! After showering or bathing and while your skin is still a little damp, completely lather up in your favorite body oil, and be sure to have a towel on standby! Glide and scrape your limbs in an upward motion (kind of like you would with a dry brush) with the curved edge. Wipe the excess oil on your towel and you will see all of the gunk and grime that is sitting on top of your skin even after cleansing! This has become an essential tool in my body care routine!

Theragun Mini

As a disgruntled member of the Big Titty Committee, I have pretty constant back pain. I have had the same Sharper Image body massager in my household since the 90’s and when it started literally smoking, I decided it was time to retire it. I picked this up this past month and cannot stop using it. I use it on my palms, arches of my feet and back legit everyday and I have found that my usual muscle aches are way more manageable.

Dune

Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet are in the same film. Nuf said. But for real, this had the best special effects I have ever seen in a movie and I can’t wait to see the rest of the movies in this series!
